From September 4 to 29, CARDE hosted a temporary exhibition in partnership with the Instituto Pintora Djanira, featuring more than 30 works by the modernist artist Djanira.

Visitors were able to experience paintings, prints, and the poem Viagem (1960), highlighting the richness of Brazil and its people. The visit also offered the opportunity to explore other works by renowned 20th-century artists displayed throughout the museum.

At the CARDE store, guests could purchase an exclusive scarf inspired by Sítio de Paraty, with part of the proceeds benefiting the institute.

Traveling as a family has always been about more than reaching a destination — it’s about creating memories. The temporary exhibition Family Journey – Station Wagon revisited a time when roads were the setting for shared stories, conversations, and discoveries.

Bringing together station wagons that shaped generations, the exhibition presented vehicles that carried not only luggage, but also dreams, emotions, and landscapes that remain in memory. Symbols of togetherness, belonging, and freedom, these models help tell how the automobile became part of family and cultural life.

The exhibition also featured interactive settings, inviting visitors to relive and capture these memories.

In 2026, we celebrate the centenary of the birth of Gurgel, Amaral (1926–2026), an engineer and entrepreneur who shaped the history of Brazil’s automotive industry through bold projects, independent thinking, and a pioneering vision of electric mobility in the country.

The temporary exhibition at CARDE offers an immersive, educational, and sensory experience exploring his trajectory, his projects, and his lasting cultural impact.

Gurgel was a visionary who believed in Brazilian technology, national engineering, and accessible solutions for the future of mobility.

Brazilian cars that shaped generations take center stage at CARDE. The exhibition brings together compact, domestic, and sports models from the 1970s, 80s, and 90s, helping tell the story of the country’s automotive industry. Blending iconic design and innovation, these are cars that were part of everyday life, and the dreams, of many Brazilians. An experience that connects the past with memory and emotion in every detail.

CARDE presented the first public exhibition of the private collection of Emanoel Araújo, acquired by Fundação Lia Maria Aguiar in 2023. The exhibition brought together essential works for understanding Afro-Brazilian art and culture in Brazil.

Rota da Consciência highlighted the influence of African heritage in shaping Brazilian identity, connecting it to symbolic dates such as Carnival and the Abolition of Slavery.

Featuring works by artists such as Heitor dos Prazeres, Maria Auxiliadora, and Carybé, as well as the traditional “joias de crioulas,” the exhibition invited visitors to reflect on memory, resistance, and representation.

The exhibition reaffirmed CARDE’s commitment to cultural diversity and the appreciation of Brazilian history.
